This memorial website was created in the memory of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and great friend, Dominic Campisi.
Dom was born in Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 19, 1974. He weighed only 5 lbs 5oz and he was a happy and contented child. His step-grandfather nicknamed him budha, which stuck. Dom was the youngest of three brothers and the clown of the family. He became vegetarian because of his love for animals; when he was 5, we had to stop him from bringing his pet chicken in the house. Dom loved music he played bass guitar and a mean harmonica. He loved to dance. He lost his father Anthony to colon cancer when Dom was 18.
Dom worked hard since he was 17 at a variety of jobs mostly in the cable tv industry. In 2004, at 29 years old he enlisted in the Delaware Air National Guard. After tech school for Crew Chief of a C-130, he proudly told us he was close to getting his associate degree as an air plane mechanic. We knew he found his niche in life. Dom volunteered for deployment in support of our troops and to further his career.
Dom left this world six days after returning from Uzbekistan on April 17, 2005; just before his 31st birthday. He died from a broken heart. Dom was given full military honors at his funeral where he was awarded The Delaware National Guard Medal for services rendered during Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom.
He will live in our hearts forever.
